Mr. Md. Farhad Siddique, Inspector General (Additional Secretary), Department of Inspection for Factories and Establishments (DIFE), led a 14-member team on a visit to the Keraniganj local RMG sector as part of ongoing efforts to eliminate child labour.
The team included Mr. Md. Atikur Rahman, Deputy Inspector General, Office of the Deputy Inspector General, DIFE, Dhaka, and Ms. Julia Jesmin, Joint Inspector General, Health Wing, along with other DIFE officials.
During the visit, the team inspected local factories and towers and held meetings with representatives from Bangladesh Labour Foundation (BLF), trade union leaders, factory owners, representatives of the Employers’ Association, tower management, Ostad, and workers. Discussions focused on the current child labour situation, ongoing initiatives, and strengthening collaborative efforts to ensure a child-labour-free industry in Keraniganj.
Employers’ association and tower management were encouraged to take proactive measures, strengthen the Child Labour Elimination Committees, and ensure effective implementation of initiatives to prevent and eliminate child labour from the sector.
The visit was technically supported by Bangladesh Labour Foundation (BLF), reinforcing our continued commitment to eliminating child labour and promoting the rights, dignity, and well-being of vulnerable workers in the Keraniganj local RMG sector.
