Every child deserves a childhood filled with imagination, creativity, learning and the freedom to express themselves.
With this understanding, Bangladesh Labour Foundation (BLF), in collaboration with SHAPLA NEER, organised the “𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗻’𝘀 𝗜𝗺𝗮𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻” art competition as part of Child Rights Day and World Children’s Week 2026. The initiative provided child labourers working in Keraniganj’s local ready-made garment (RMG) sector with a safe and creative space to express their thoughts, hopes and imagination through art.
Centred on the theme “𝗜 𝘄𝗶𝘀𝗵 𝗜 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱”, the competition encouraged children to communicate their dreams, aspirations and ideas through colours, lines and drawings. For children whose everyday lives are shaped by work and various limitations, the activity offered an opportunity to step beyond their circumstances and freely imagine, create and express themselves.
The initiative highlighted the importance of creating safe and inclusive spaces where children can participate in creative activities, explore their potential and make their voices heard. Through their drawings, the children demonstrated that they are more than their circumstances or the work they do—they have dreams, ideas and unique ways of seeing the world.
As part of its commitment to child rights, Bangladesh Labour Foundation (BLF) continues to emphasise the importance of protecting children from harmful working conditions and ensuring opportunities for them to learn, play, grow safely and develop their creativity.
Every child deserves a childhood where they can dream freely, express themselves and build a brighter future. Initiatives such as this art competition help ensure that children’s voices, dreams and imagination are seen, valued and heard.
